TFD Responds to Fire on Ledger Lane
May 16, 2025
On May 15, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Tallahassee Fire Department (TFD) was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Ledger Lane. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy flames and smoke coming from a mobile home.
TFD crews initiated an aggressive fire attack to quickly contain and extinguish the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures. One individual was located at the scene and was transported to a local hospital for treatment due to smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The Tallahassee Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Leon County Sheriff's Office, Leon County EMS and Talquin Electric Cooperative.
The Tallahassee Fire Department reminds residents of the importance of working smoke alarms and having an escape plan in place. Smoke alarms should be installed in every bedroom, outside each sleeping area and on every level of your home. Test alarms monthly, replace batteries at least once a year and replace the entire alarm every 10 years. Every household should have a fire escape plan. Identify two ways out of every room, establish a safe meeting place outside and ensure that all family members - especially children - know what to do in the event of a fire. Practice your escape plan at least twice a year during both day and nighttime hours. Get tips and find more fire safety information by following TFD on Facebook and visiting Talgov.com/Fire.
